Bitter & Twisted - like the twist of a lemon
One of Roger Protz’s "Top 10 must try British Beers" www.camra.org.uk
Bitter & Twisted is a sharp, blond beer with a superb, fresh hop profile combining aromatic Hallertau Hersbrucker with spicy Challenger. It is finished by late hopping with Styrian Goldings, which gives sharpness like the twist of a lemon. A truly refreshing beer and strangely moreish.
We’re delighted to say that Bitter & Twisted wins awards at home and abroad – most recently a Gold medal at the 2006 International Beer Competition. We bottle our beers with less carbon dioxide, which means that you get a more fresh tasting beer.
When the brewery was founded 15 years ago the head brewer worked in an old stone barn with only a fractious mouse for company. This testy rodent is now the Harviestoun mascot, Harvie. You will find him standing guard on the front of Bitter & Twisted and on the crowns of all our bottles.
Available on draught in 9g kegs at 3.8% ABV & in 500ml bottles at 4.2% ABV.

Don’t take our word for it..
"The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about" as Oscar Wilde once said. When you brew award-winning beers people talk about you all the time – and they nearly always say nice things! Below are a couple of write-ups about Bitter & Twisted

"Pale golden in colour with only a low level of foam This is a very well built beer that starts with a delicate hoppy and fresh floral aroma. The flavour is fruity, first you notice the grapefruit and then a good dash of lemon comes through. At the end there is a rounded taste of bitter hops. Easy drinkable and very moreish"

"The name of this beer is chosen to imply a twist of lemon - this doesn't mean that lemons are actually used in the brewing process - rather, the label tells you that the flavour comes from late hopping using Styrian Goldings (in addition to the Hallertau Hersbrücker and Challenger hops used). It pours a pale golden colour with a bubbly and short-lived head. The aroma is predictably hoppy, with earthy, powdery hop notes and a touch of citrus zest. It is bitter in the mouth, smooth, slightly sharp and (sure enough) lemony. Balancing malt flavours are fairly light, though. The finish is of vegetal and citrusy hops (plus a pear-drops estery touch) leaving a hoppy aftertaste that fades gently into bitter citrus zest. A smooth, sharp and hoppy session bitter."
